Paragraph Structure and Cohesion

The principles of cohesion should also be applied in every paragraph you write. A cohesive paragraph structure consists of a topic sentence where you introduce the topic of the paragraph. The following sentences should be supportive sentences providing additional information and examples on that topic. The last sentence of a paragraph should provide a conclusion or transition to the topic of the next paragraph. This is typically something you work on during the first draft of your thesis.
